The Active Living Coalition for Older Adults (ALCOA) strives to promote a society where all older Canadians are leading active lifestyles that contribute to their overall well-being.
Alberta 55 plus represents the heart of mature Albertans. It stands for the idea of a fuller, healthier, more vital future; for the straightforward steps that can be taken towards that future. We promote participation and action and have generated a unique spirit of cooperation across the province.
We are an organization of caregivers for caregivers that helps them maintain their own well-being over the care giving journey. We offer information, education, support, networking, and advocacy to make caregivers' lives less difficult.
The Alberta Centre for Active Living is a key advocate of physical activity and physical activity expertise and a primary source of research and education on physical activity for practitioners, organizations and decision-makers. The Centre's mandate is to improve the health and quality of life for all people through physical activity.
Founded under the Societies Act in 1981, the Alberta Continuing Care Association (ACCA) is the most unique alliance of its kind in Canada. We are a voluntary, non-profit organization representing owners and operators of long term care facilities throughout the province of Alberta.
ACA's membership is comprised of more than 3000 individual members and 200 Senior's groups and agencies as organizational members. ACA is Alberta's only provincial non-profit, charitable, non-government umbrella organization representing Seniors.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT & Nunavut, a volunteer-based health charity, leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its applications, the promotion of healthy living and advocacy.
The Alberta Retired Teachers' Association (ARTA) is a group organized to advocate for retired teachers on the issues that affect their well-being. ARTA regularly takes concerns about pensions and declining health care benefits to the provincial government and the Alberta Teachers' Retirement Fund.

ALS, often called Lou Gehrig's Disease, means Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
Sometimes it is called Motor Neuron Disease.
ALS can strike anyone. It can hit at anytime, regardless of age, sex or ethnic origin.
The usual age of onset is 55-65, but people under 20 have been diagnosed.
ALS is not a rare disease. Of every 100,000 people, between 6 and 7 will be diagnosed with ALS.

There are many freezing, cold nights in the winter and during these nights it is the homeless people in Edmonton that suffer the most. Volunteers and staff of the EERSS go out on many of these nights to hand out winter clothing and warm blankets to the homeless.
Our mission is to prevent and respond to elder abuse by working in partnership with the community, thereby enhancing the well being of older adults.

Old Age Security (OAS) Program.
Heads Up is a proactive award winning anti-fraud program based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The program was integrated into the Alberta Community Crime Prevention Association's portfolio in September of 2007. We are currently working with various partners across Alberta and Canada in order to share the most current and up to date fraud prevention material.

Kerby Centre was founded as an organization that would be run by seniors, for seniors. The Board of Directors is comprised entirely of seniors and is responsible for the operation of Kerby Centre. Assisting the Board are forty professional staff and over 600 volunteers. Every year more than 32,000 people use Kerby Centre. Membership is not required to access services.

Tardive Dyskinesia (TD) is a result of damage to the bodily systems that process dopamine, and is typically caused by exposure to certain prescription medications - including Reglan and several antipsychotic medications. The symptoms of TD, which are irreversible and incurable, mimic those of Parkinson’s disease or Huntington’s disease. Tardive Dyskinesia victims suffer from involuntary, repetitive movements which often continue after the drug is no longer used. The Workers' Compensation Board – Alberta is an independent organization that manages workers' compensation insurance based on legislation.
